Todd Baldwin, a native of West Des Moines, Iowa and graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer in 2006. After completing Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to C Company/2nd BN “No Slack”/327 IN Regiment/ 1st Brigade/101st ABN DIV AASLT, as a Fire Support Officer, where he deployed to Samarra, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2007 to December 2008.
After leaving the service Baldwin founded Red Leg Brewing Company in Colorado Springs, CO in 2013. Since inception Red Leg has become one of the largest providers of craft beer in Southern Colorado. Starting out making 30 gallons of beer a day to now selling over 35,000 cases of beer annually. Baldwin has distinguished himself within the community as he has been recognized as the Southern Colorado Rising Star Award in 2014, Colorado Springs Mayor young entrepreneur of the year award 2016,
Colorado Companies to Watch Award Winner 2020, Colorado Springs Gazette Veteran Owned Business of the Year, and a Two Time World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Fest Medaling Brewery, are a few of his highlights.
Baldwin just completed a massive $10 million dollar west-side expansion project that houses his new brewery that includes an outdoor food hall and event space all with the backdrop of the front range. The project has brought a much-needed event and venue space to the westside of Colorado Springs.
Throughout his time running his businesses, Mr. Baldwin continues to support local non-profits by hosting hundreds of events and raising tens of thousands of dollars for local charities. Mr. Baldwin is also credited with the formation of a national organization, The Veterans Beer Alliance, that brings partnership breweries together to reduce their economies of scale through cooperative buying. The VBA now has over thirty brewery members in twelve states. Baldwin has been a staunch supporter of veteran entrepreneurs helping mentor numerous future business owners navigate the startup phase. He has also spoken to the Colorado House of Representatives to support active-duty transition training programs.
