Benjamin Honeycutt is a Middle School Technology and STEAM Teacher at Woodland Park Middle School. He has been a classroom teacher for 6 years and has taught at both charter and public schools in Southern Colorado. Ben published a young adult book called Bleak centered on the bullying issue in 2020, and co-founded an educational non-profit called Open World Cause that helped fund the construction of classrooms in Nepal and Kenya, work Ben has helped oversee since 2010. Ben’s experiences have inspired him to make his classroom a place where all students can succeed and to give his students as many real-world entrepreneurial opportunities as possible. In his second year of teaching, Ben’s students were internationally recognized by Microsoft in Education for their successful campaign to save the HIPAfrica school in Kenya.
To find out more about Ben, you can visit benhoneycutt.com or get involved with his non-profit at openworldcause.org. Ben challenges himself with the belief that students have the power to change the world from the screens of their devices, so what’s stopping them?
